Everyone has a different pain threshold. As such, some people say that the session doesn’t hurt very much, while others compare it to having a rubber band snap on the skin.

Several options are available to minimize pain, like the application of anesthetic creams or anesthetic injections on the tattoo area. However, these options make the skin contract and tighten, which diminishes the ink fragmentation, and therefore more sessions are required, at the patient’s expense. Another option is to cool the epidermis on the tattoo area before the session.

At NUYU, we use a mix of solutions and we actually had very few problems managing clients pain.

While a session can cause discomfort for a few minutes, most people think this is well worth the results.
